RUN TIME 1 Hour and 30 Minutes. No intermission.
Maureen Langan comes to Nantucket fresh from a six month run of Daughter of a Garbageman in San Francisco and Berkeley, where it was hailed as a "one-woman tour-de-force... jam-packed with moments to be relished and remembered”
Daughter of a Garbageman is a tale of Maureen’s 1970’s upbringing in New Jersey in which her Irish mother and Bronx-born father, a retired New York City sanitation worker, told her to work hard, get educated and life would reward her.
NOT TRUE! Life is rewarding reality stars. How do you tell a girl to read and write when Kim Kardashian gets a book deal? When a sex tape leads to fame and fortune? When the star of the Apprentice becomes the president?
WHO IS TO BLAME? Our parents? America? Maureen introduces us to the people who shaped her with values that, by today's standards, seem puritanical. Maureen taps into the hearts and frustrations of hard-working people everywhere who sarcastically wonder, if they, too, were raised wrong!
Daughter of a Garbageman is directed by David Ford. Ford is one of the nation's leading directors of solo theater, having collaborated with artists for over three decades. The SF Chronicle calls him “The dean of solo performance.” Ford is a resident artist at The Marsh in San Francisco and Berkeley.
"She has something to say about family relationships, self-acceptance and American culture and is willing to be completely honest without sacrificing her killer sense of humor." - SF Examiner
'Langan is a natural comedienne who you like so much you can't wait to hear more. G'head, just talk. Tell us about the Kardashians, your dad, your mom, anything, fine. Just don't stop." - SFTheaterBlog

At the time, she believed education was the path to success. She has since come to her senses.
